(Bee Well Intentionally Gut-Healing Method)
Ingredients:
- 4–6 firm green bananas (unripe, unblemished)
- 1–2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra to rub on hands)
- 1 tsp pink salt (or sea salt)
- Water (enough to cover bananas in a large pot)
Instructions:
- Prep the Bananas:
Rinse the bananas to remove dirt or residue. Lightly rub olive oil on your hands (or wear gloves) to prevent any staining from the peel’s sap. Place each banana on a cutting board, then:- Partially cut the top (stem) — do not cut fully through.
- Leave the bottom intact.
- Score the peel lengthwise (don’t cut too deep into the flesh).
- Boil:
Fill a large stockpot ¾ full with water. Add olive oil and salt and bring to a rolling boil. - Cook:
Carefully add the bananas. Boil for 25–30 minutes, until fork-tender but not mushy. - Cool & Peel:
Let them cool slightly, then peel along the scored line (the skin should slip off easily).
Optional Serving Idea (Inspired by My Gut-Healing Journey):
Mash with a splash of olive oil or ghee, pink salt, and a bit of gut-friendly cheese like mild goat or mozzarella (if dairy is well tolerated). This creamy variation is a comforting, nutrient-rich alternative to mashed potatoes — especially for those sensitive to lectins or starchy nightshades.
